Profusely illustrated with 56 full-page b/w photographs, 4 maps, and 141 in-text photographs and drawings. Contains chapters on languages as well as cultivated plants, domesticated and wild animals, secret societies, and legends and fairy tails. Binding rubbed, minor soiling on cover and spine, and small cracks at hinges. Blind stamp of Library of Norman Hurst on half-title. Small newspaper clip on German surrender after WWI glued to first map, not affecting information on map. Brief notes relating to longitudes penciled into margins of maps.
