He lived in the late 15th century and worked for a time as a Hebrew tutor for the humanist Pico Mirandola. He saw himself a follower of Maimonides, but has also been classified as an Averroist. This work was first printed in Basel in 1629. It contains his statements opposing Kabbalah and expounds "his belief that a human being cannot aspire to become a god, and his vision of a rationalist Judaism. Del-Medigo is often considered the last of the Jewish Averroists. Commentary by the Italian maskil Isaac Reggio, who taught at the rabbinic seminary of Padua. This book is a useful example of the important role played by the medieval maimonidean tradition in the later haskalah. Tearing on top spine. Corners bumped. Slight foxing in interior.
