Manuscript letter by Grant White mounted on leaf opposite half-title page in vol. I. (see content below). Complete Book Lover's Limited Edition with the works of William Shakespeare. Each volume contains frontispiece and is illustrated with engravings in photogravure by William Ward, T. Deinninger, C. W. Sharpe (and many others) after paintings by J. Hoppner, H. Hofmann, Thos. Stothard, C. Green, Holman Hunt, A. W. Callcott, Edward Grützner, Margaret Löwe, J. Haytley, and others. Includes facsimile title-pages of the original first editions. Publisher's card with title and volume number tipped-in at rear, as issued.

Manuscript letter: "New York Feb. 2, 18(?)9. Dear Sir. I hope that you will ? this as all sufficient for your purpose from a man who, I fear, has very few "sentiments" in his ?, and who has a great deal of work on his hands. (Richard Grant White was one of the foremost literary critics of his time as well as a prominent Shakespearen scholar).
