Dutch translation of the work "Historia de gli Riti Hebraici (History of the Rites of the Hebrews)" by the Venetian Rabbi Leone Modene. Presented in four parts covering a wide range of topics, including Jewish dress, the Sabbath, the month of Elul, Day of Atonement, Tabernacles, Hanukkah, Purim, the Jewish home, and marriage and divorce. Illustrated with four folding engravings depicting a wedding ceremony, divorce proceedings, a scene describing the refusal to marry the brother's widow, and a circumcision. Bound with a comparative text of various masses and liturgies customary in Jewish communities by Simonville (Richard Simon).
Text in Dutch. Binding with light wear along edges and somewhat bent, lightly stained and rubbed. Red edges faded. Papers on inside front and back covers partly detached, at back with four inch closed tear near foredge. Front free endpapers attached to block at lower, respectively upper third of binding. Light foxing on front and endpapers and in margins of block throughout. Images of engravings not affected. Binding in overall good-, interior in good+ to very good condition. g- to vg. Item #30592
