Flower patterned endpapers. Biography of Sir Moses and Lady Judith Montefiore with selections from their diaries. The Montefiores were English Jewish philanthropists who helped fund proto-Zionist building projects in Palestine. General signs of wear. Head and tail of spine bumped. Corners scuffed. Foxing on free endpapers, a little in the interior leaves as well. Overall in fair to good condition. Item #29312

Dr. L. Loewe was a member of the royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, Society Asiatique of Paris and Numismatic Society of London. Went with the Montefiores on thirteen foreign trips, including the mission to Damascus and Constantinople in 1840.
