According to Voltaire himself, the poem concerns and was written in honour of the life of Henry IV of France, and a celebration of his life. This work is profusely illustrated with 11 exquisite engravings (including frontispiece). Some age wear on binding with corners heavily rubbed and head of spine partly chipped. Very minor and sporadic age/toning/foxing throughout. Contemporary previous owner's signature in ink on inside of free front endpaper (Romain d'Aurignac). Text in French.
