Quarto. Leaves in both volumes resting in original red and tan cloth portfolio with pictorial paste-down and string ties. Lettering in white on cover and spine. "Herausgegeben von Oberstadtbaurat Architekt Ing. Josef Bittner." Spines slightly sunned, minor scuffing on portfolios, otherwise bright copies in near fine to fine condition. Complete two volume set looking at the massive social housing project in Vienna in the 1920's. After W.W.I there was a terrible lack of housing in the city. On 21. December 1923, the "Gemeinderat der Stadt Wien" (city council of Vienna) decided on the construction of 25,000 new buildings. The first volume looks at the actual buildings, the second is devoted to the artistic & aesthetically side of the houses, i.e, sculptures, ornaments, etc.
