Walter Reisch (1903-1983) was an Austrian-born film director and screenwriter. After fleeing from the Nazi's, Reisch emigrated to the United States where he collaborated with Billy Wilder, Charles Brackett, Richard Breen, and others. Reisch won an Oscar for 1953's screenplay of Titanic. Engraved frontispiece in front of each of the three title pages. First German edition of this fascinating work on Napoleon's life, from the beginning of his career to his exile and death at St. Helena, a barren, wind-swept rock located in the South Atlantic Ocean. This captivating biography is illustrated with 4 engraved plates (including frontispieces). Age-wear on binding with heavy rubbing on spine and major abrasion on calf. Closed tears along joints but boards holding firmly. Sporadic and minor foxing throughout. Text in German, gothic script. Binding in overall poor to fair, interior in very good condition. fair.
