Decorative initial on title-page and Preface. Fascinating and heart-gripping work by one of the most renown American Jewish religious leaders, Isaac M. Wise, who was the builder of Reform Judaism in the United States. Wise was a prolific writer. He wrote a number of books on Jewish theology and, in addition, published numerous works on the relationship between Judaism and Christianity, among them "The Martyrdom of Jesus of Nazareth" (1874).
