Turkish Oil-Lamp Menorah. Original Screenprint after a Papercut [SIGNED]

NP, 1981. Limited edition. Hardcover. 1/300. Original hand signed screenprint with gold ink on parchment paper beautifully framed in a contemporary silver lined black frame (frame size: 16.8" x 12.8". Image: 11.5" x 8.5".) This striking work is a fine example of Sephardic Jewish folk art. The ornamental Turkish designs of this papercut depict a hanging oil lamp or Menorah. The pillars are symbolic of the columns of fire and cloud that accompanied the Israelites during their wanderings. Madelyn Katzman has recreated paper-cuts in silk screen using traditional styles and motifs from throughout the Diaspora. This print has been hand screened at Beowulf Graphics and has been hand numbered, hand titled and hand signed by the artist on its lower margin. Screenprint in very good condition. vg. Item #24954
