Rare Festschrift looking at the history and development of the Hochschule für die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin (Academy of Jewish Studies). The Academy was founded in 1872 by Abraham Geiger, Ludwig Philippson, and Salomon Neumann. In 1942 the Academy was closed by the Nazi's and most of the faculty were sent to concentration camps. Illustrated with a b/w reproduction of a photograph showing the exterior of the Academy, one architectural plan, photographic reproductions of portraits of the three founders, as well as the teachers Moritz Lazarus, Moritz Meyer, David Cassel, Israel Lewy, and Hajim Steinthal. Text in German, gothic script. Wraps in fair, interior in very good condition. Scarce. g. Item #24244
