Frontispiece. Decorative initial. With 18 color reproductions (incl. frontispiece) of paintings by British artist Lionel Edwards (1878-1966), mounted on thick paper with deckled edges. All color plates signed by Edwards in pencil on lower margin of the mount. 33 additional b/w reproductions of drawings and sketches, many of them head- and tailpieces. Lionel Edwards specialized in painting horses. Mostly known for his hunting scenes, he also painted pictures of horse racing, shooting, and fishing, as seen in this work. Some staining and discoloration on front board. Head and tail of spine and corners slightly bumped. Tiny closed tear on tail of spine. Dust wrapper 1/2" shorter than actual height of book (as published?). Sunning, some staining and creasing on dust wrapper. Head and tail of dw spine chipped. Tight copy with dw in good, book in overall very good condition. Rare in dust wrapper. vg. Item #23573
