Manuel Gamio (1863-1960) was a Mexican anthropologist, archaeologist, sociologist, as well as a leader of the "Indigenismo" movement. He was the first scientific investigator to explore Teotihuacan. The result of these investigations is "La Poblacion del Valle de Teotihuacan" (The Population of the Valley of Teotihuacan). A revision of his Columbia thesis, this work is still an important source for ethnographic information on the northern zone of Mexico. All 3 volumes with color frontispiece, illustrated title-pages, as well as many b/w reproductions of photographs, diagrams, fold-out plates (some lithographic) of charts, drawings, maps, art work, documents, etc. Some of the plates are in color. Tissue guard on frontispiece-, half-title and frontispiece pages on same volume stuck together due to water exposure, half-title page loose but present. Closed tears to few plates. Part two of Vol. I in poor, binding on other volumes in fair, interior in overall very good condition.
