The Ingoldsby Legends are a collection of myths, legends, ghost stories and poetry supposedly written by Thomas Ingoldsby, actually a pen-name of Richard Harris Barham. The stories first appeared in 1837 as a regular series in Bentley's Miscellany and later in New Monthly Magazine. Delightfully illustrated with full-page b/w reproductions of drawings by John Leech and George Cruishank. Minor age wear, scuffing and staining on binding. Spine very lightly sunned. Vol. I & II with small split along spine on front and back boards, firmly holding. Sporadic foxing throughout in each volume. Signed and dated by previous owner on blank page preceding title-page.
