While describing the various districts of the Holy Land and noting their ancient sites, their past history, and their present state, the author has sought to gather at every step contributions towards the illustration of the inspired text from every local source. This fascinating work is profusely illustrated with numerous b/w in-text and full-page illustrations by H. A. Harper. Age-wear on binding with major closed tears on front joint (but board holding firmly). Lower corners heavily rubbed. Cloth rippled along fore-edge. Head and tail of spine slightly chipped. Discoloration on covers, due to damp exposure. Ex-libris of previous owner on inside of front board. Previous owner's inscription on free front endpaper and dated 1894. Closed tear at rear of folding map. Very minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Binding in overall fair to good-, interior in very good condition. f to vg. Item #21167
