Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz (1878-1947), was a French speaking Swiss poet and novelist and acknowledged leader of the "Renaissance Vaudoise." Derborence was first published in 1935. Most of Ramuz's works deal with the simple people of his native canton of Vaud.
