The author Salomon Funk, (1867 - 1928) was an influential Semitic scholar decades ahead of his time. This work, which is part of the series, "Monumenta Talmudica", (also printed in a soft cover edition in 3 parts) laid much of the groundwork for modern scholarship on the Babylonian Talmud and Jewish Aramaic.
