Originally printed in the periodical "Monatsschrift" in 1857. As Abraham Berliner ("Beiträge zur Geschichte der Raschi-Commentare. Berlin: Rosenstein. 1903. p. 17) points out, this monograph is a thorough description of the relation between the pupil and his teacher, and groundbreaking in that way. Written by renowned Rabbinical scholar Abraham Epstein (see below). Minor age wear to wrappers, with 1" closed tear to left top corner of front wrapper. Abraham Epstein (1841-1918). Russo-Austrian Rabbinical scholar. Epstein studied the works of Samuel David Luzzatto, Levinsohn and Krochmal, among others. He wrote many academic, archaeological, biographical and historical articles for the Jewish periodical press.
