Testi Economici Di Lagas del Museo di Istanbul Parte II: La. 7601 - 8200 (Materiali Per Il Vocabolario Neosumerico Vol. VII)

Rome: Mitigrafica Editrice, 1978. 4to. 236pp. Includes four indexes and is primarily concerned with the language and economics of ancient Sumeria, particularly the city of Lagas (Lagash) taken from documents contained at the Museum of Istanbul, as the title suggests. The authors Giovanni Pettinato and Paolo Matthiae who were excavators for the University of Rome, collaborated together for a number of years. Lagash (modern Tell al-Hiba), lies at the northwest of the junction of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers and was one of the oldest cities of Sumeria and later Babylon. At one point, it was the economic and religious center in the region. In Italian. There is a Xeroxed copy of "Mission Française de Chaldée: Incentaire des Tablettes de Tello Conservées au Musée Impérial Ottomon: Tome IV Textes de L'époque D'ur" by L. Delaporte (Paris, Ernest Leroux 1912) laid in the book containing 22 plates depicting b/w facsimiles of cuneiform tablets. Some minor age ware to spine. Someone has written a short, neat set of notes from the book atop title page. Otherwise book is in near fine condition. vg. Item #19113
