Original full calf, with gold lettering and tooling on spine. Six raised bands. All edges red. Engraved title vignette (printer's device). Decorative headpieces, and initials. Striking Latin treatise on the Ark of the Covenant, discussing both the architecture and vessels, by French Mathematician and theologian Bernard Lamy. This work was published posthumously by Pierre Nicolas Desmolets. Contains 19 engraved plates, numbered I to XX (lacking plate VIII, depicting the plan of Jerusalem), and numerous in-text and full-page charts. Text in Latin printed in two columns. Moderate rubbing along edges of binding. Tail of spine chipped. Corners slightly bumped (not affecting pages). Contemporary ink mark, and a minor modern pen mark on title-page (not affecting lettering). Water staining to upper margin of the first 14 leaves. Pages slightly rippled throughout. Binding in overall good- to good, interior in good to good+ condition. g- to g+. Item #18854
