Adrian van Sinderen issued Christmas keepsake books over a period of forty years. Topics included his book collecting, travels through Africa, and adventures in W.W. II. Most photographs in the books were taken by Van Sinderen himself. He graduated from Yale in 1910 and in 1957 he established cash prizes to seniors and sophomores in order to encourage undergraduates to collect books, build up libraries of their own, and read for pleasure and learning.
