C. S. Günsburg (1784-1860) was a German author and preacher. He studied philology and philosophy in Berlin. For a few years he also preached at the Jacobson Temple in Berlin and in 1819 settled in Breslau. He is also the author of "Parabeln" and in 1818 published "Die Deutsche Synagoge" with Ed. Kley.
Gustav Gottheil (1827-1903) was an American Reform rabbi who was born in Prussia. From 1855-1860 he served as an assistant at the Berlin Reform Temple, and from 1860-1873 as a rabbi in Manchester, England. From 1873 he was assistant rabbi and latter rabbi at Temple Emanu-El in New York City until his retirement in 1899. He had great influence on reform Judaism in America. He founded several Jewish societies and also was governor of the Cincinnati Hebrew Union College. In 1866 he prepared the first American Jewish hymnbook. Gottheil was the most prominent American rabbi at the first World Zionist Congress in 1897. He was one of the founders of the Federation of American Zionists which later became the Zionist Organization of America.
