The nine volumes are resting in a cloth portfolio with ties and title in gold on cover. Bottom right edge of portfolio split but still firmly holding. Some scuffing and staining to portfolio. "It is well that this publication, "The Art Work of Washington County, Pennsylvania," should be preceded by an introduction explanatory of its subject and object. Its subject being the presentation of public buildings and residences and views of scenery here and there over the country, by means of engravings from photographic originals, its manifest object is to preserve for the future information as to present natural conditions as brought about by the life of man within the county for the last one hundred and forty years."
Portfolio with some light rubbing to extremities and hinges. Interior hinges of the portfolio have been reinforced with japan tissue. Wrappers with some light rubbing to corners, and minor chipping to the tails of a few spines. Wrappers of the first part with a closed tear along the right edge of the front cover. Interiors with sporadic minor to light water staining, smudging and/or creasing to a few of the protective tissue guards throughout. Water stain along the right edge of the Part 1 title page.
