This volume is concerned with the remainder of the collection, comprising paintings and drawings by artists of the 'classical' schools, so-called because of their dependence, in varying degrees, on China-Kano, Nanga, and Maruyama/Shijo; by others of the Decorative or Rimpa school; and a few who are hardly classifiable under any of the normal school labels and termed 'Independents' for want of a better term".
