Authoritative work on Mayan architecture by Tatiana Proskouriakoff drawn during her trip in 1939-40 to Copan, Chichen Itza and the the cities of the Puuc. The plates by Proskouriakoff are b/w reproductions of paintings and drawings of 36 Mayan sites. Includes 3 page introduction by the author & 1 map. Most numbered plates with two leaves, one of the artist's painting, the other with descriptive text and drawings of the existing ruins. Text part of leaves 17, 22, 23 & 25, as well as one (23 or 25?) painting missing. Small closed tear and minor creasing on title-page. Slight creasing and staining to few plates. 62 leaves total, including title-page. Plates in very good condition. Tatiana Proskouriakoff (1909-1985) was a Russian archaeologist, epigrapher and ethnologist. g. Item #12847
