Publication based on the documentary film by the Humboldt-Film GmbH, Berlin, with the same title, edited in collaboration with the film committee for architecture and settlement by the architect Richard Paulick.

Publication to supplement the four act film "How to live Healthy and Economically" for the viewer to provide the content for reference as well as treating questions regarding land reform, housing politics, legislation and statistics. In addition it provides information and advice for specific questions as well as addresses of agencies, organizations and companies not mentioned in the film. At the same time the author hopes to trigger exchange of experiences fostering improvements on the subject.

The subject matters treated in separate, photo-illustrated chapters are housing shortage, new architecture and living, electricity in the household, settlements in Magdeburg, the ""Steel House" of the Vereinigte Stahlwerke Corporation in Düsseldorf, reasonable heating in the household, drainage of damp buildings, the air cell stone, and others. At rear the program of the Film Committee for Architecture and Settlements, the film inventory at the Film Archive for Architecture and Settlements, a guide for architecture and settlements providing organizations and literature, reference sources, and an order form with conditions for ordering. The inside back cover provides a film inventory of the Humboldt Film GmbH, and the back cover with illustrated advertisements. Text in German.
