"I distinctly recall standing before Melanie Pullen's "Dorothy" on an exquisite spring day in Los Angeles. The warm evening sun was spilling into the whitewashed space like melted butter and the crow, milling around the pictures as they had been all day, was alive with unchecked conversations: You don't stand quietly before a Melanie Pullen photograph. I'm assuming it was for this reason that the solitary woman to my left, sunglasses perched atop her immaculate coiffure, felt the urge to voice her opinions to me: "They're all so morbid, aren't they?" she said, waving her hand extravagantly to make it clear that she meant the entire exhibition. "Dont you think so?" (Luke Crisell).

Profusely illustrated with full page color and b/w photographs, many double-page. With contributions by Luke Crisell, foreword, Robert Enright and Colin Westerbeck, and an epilog by Melanie Pullen. Contains list of photographs with thumbnail images at rear. Fine condition. Item #51487
