Illustrated with forty-four sublime full page color photographs depicting Los Angeles and California land and cityscapes. With a prosaic essay by Rodney Sappington: "Angels in Fall marks what has occurred in spaces that divide and isolate. Surely cities are falling apart – so too are our wilderness areas and open expanses of desert. They are also falling together in particular ways that are becoming clear as habitat and community are in the remaking. Perhaps this is sad beauty. The measured shape of stillness and the light-quick transformation of landscapes today are striking. The corporate plazas and nature trails have become part of an expansive museum on which humans become a footnote in a history that has outstripped them (us)."

Extraordinary rendering of contrasting environments of land and life in California. Contains list of the photographs, taken from 1995 to 1999, at rear. The laid-in C-print with light imperfections in margins, one minor vertical line indentation on verso of print, one inch, barely visible on print. Clamshell box with faint white staining on cover and inside cover, else in fine condition. Very good to fine condition. Item #51428
