The Franklin Library "The 100 Greatest Books of All Time" [COMPLETE COLLECTION]

Franklin Center, PA: Franklin Library, 1974-1982. Hardcover. All volumes in the collection are bound in elaborately gilt decorated, full leather, with all the text block edges richly finished in gold leaf. The colorful leather bindings cover the spectrum from white to black and red to violet, while their contents range from poetry to science and from fiction to philosophy. Depending on their content, the books range in height from 8-1/2" to 10" and the entire set takes up approximately 14 feet of shelf space. All books in fine condition.

Note: this set was published for a limited group of subscribers during a period 9 years and was issued in 3 different bindings. The set offered here is the deluxe full leather binding with moire silk endpapers and sewn-in ribbon bookmarks. Accompanying this set are 98 (of 100) explanatory pamphlets entitled, "Notes from the Editor." Each is 22 pages in length and endeavors to put the various volumes into their historical context. These pamphlets are housed in 4 specially designed publisher's slipcases.
