The paintings selected for this publications were exhibited in a larger show at the Memorial Exhibition in Wuppertal and Dortmund in 1942. Born in 1894 Grossfeld studied at the Technical Academies in Darmstadt and Aachen to become an architect. After W.W.I. Grossberg educated himself to become a painter in Weimar. His technical propensity is clearly identifiable in his paintings, categorized in the field of New Objectivity. Grossberg was one of the few painters allowed to continue working during the reign of the Nazis in Germany. In 1934 he was commissioned by the Propaganda Ministry to paint a large mural for the exhibition "German people – German Work." Profusely illustrated with forty-six reproductions of his drawings, watercolor and paintings, eight of them in color. Contains list of works included in this publication at rear.
