Frontispiece photographic portrait in b/w/. The scarce first edition of this work by Polish Catholic priest Stefan Biskupski, telling the tragic story of the martyred Polish Bishop Michal Kozal (1893-1943) of Włocławek, who was imprisoned, tortured and murdered by the Nazis during the war. In recognition of his sacrifice and work, Kozal was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1987.

Wrappers with age toning to the edges of the covers, minor rubbing to extremities. Light creasing to the top right corner, and a white paper stamp pasted on the top left corner of the front cover.
