Paris: Galerie Lutétia, 1928. First edition. Loose leaf. Signed in pencil P. Allier on inside back wrapper. 576/1000. Oblong Quarto (1 x 14 1/4"). Four Pochoir plates laid into original decorative wraps with black lettering on cover. Housed in modern custom-made string-tied portfolio with sticker, miniature reproduction of title page, pasted to one flap. Beautifully rendered colorful Pochoir plates, each depicting two women featuring the fashionable apparel of the four seasons. All prints with title and artist's name printed below image.

Paul Allier 1896-1953) studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under Fernand Cormon. Here he met Georges Lepage and André Marty. Mainly active as a fashion illustrator Allier worked for the magazines L'Assiette au Beurre, Femina, Flirt, Le Jardin des Modes and Vogue. Allier also produced book illustrations and theatre designs as well as designs for pochoirs, mostly published in collaboration with the Galerie Lutetia in Paris. "Allier's style was as distinctive as it was diverse: from the smokily seductive and theatrical (e.g. the Harem Series, 1926) to the boldy illustrative flat Oriental style ("The Seasons," 1928)." (Artophile). Text in French, Light staining on front cover of wraps, these lightly rubbed. L'Automne with light offsetting in margins, not affecting image. Very good condition. Item #49658
