Considered a significant work in the history of 20th century historical fiction for young readers, the novel updates the classic Robin Hood story with a decidedly leftist political bent. Here Trease casts the famous hero as a champion of the poor and oppressed proletariat masses, against the wealthy and corrupt aristocracy. Four illustrations in b/w throughout by Michael Boland. Dust jacket sunned, with spine with large chipping at the head and tail, and front cover separated at hinge. Binding with light bumping and rubbing to the head and tail of the spine.
