Elephant folio ((15 1/2 x 12 1/4"). (2) 12 plates. Twelve plates with original woodcuts, illustrated title page and table on content plate, no cover or portfolio. Title page illustrated with original woodcut. The fourteen leaves were drawn and cut by students of the school at the Royal-Crafts-Museum in Berlin.

The motifs illustrate the horrors of war and are rendered in the for the time dominant expressionistic style. The woodcuts on plates 11 and 12 with captions: "In faithful Tribute!" (11) and "Victory Celebration! The Holy Glory. Call for the youth to gather, so that courage grows around the blaze!" on plate 12. Four plates signed or initialed in plates. Printed at the press of the Museum. Text in German, Gothic script, with plates showing some age-toning. Protected in modern mylar. Very good condition. Item #48995

Erich Brose (1894–1974) is known as a local/native historian and pedagogue. He served during W.W.I., was wounded and served as a pedagogue at Klein Ottersleben. He was instrumental preparing for the 1,000 Year festivities of the city of Ottersleben in 1937. He published a titles on the history of Ottersleben and studied geology in the region of Magdeburg.
