The three main focuses are the causes of the uprising, its failures, and an analysis of its importance in the broader context of the war. Published as the third volume in the series "Polish History of the Second World War", by the World Association of Poles From Abroad ("Swiatpol"), the organization charged with maintaining relations with the Polish diaspora. The author, Polish historian, law scholar and activist Andrzej Pomian-Dowmuntt (1911-2008), taught clandestinely as a member of the Polish underground during the war.
