New York: Stephen Daye Press, 1945. First edition. Hardcover. Elephant folio. [3] 24pp. Rebound in orange library buckram, with gilt lettering and library sticker on the spine. The work is comprised of 200 separate modernist decorative designs in b/w by Czech-American artist and designer Fritzi Brod (1900-1952). The images included range from expressive floral, botanical and animal motifs to ethnic art and more abstract forms. As stated in the introduction, the artist hopes that these designs will be useful and inspirational to all manner artists and designers, including jewelers, wood carvers, interior decorators, leather workers, glass and wallpaper designers, embroiderers, weavers, printers, ceramists and even advertisers and typographers.

Ex-libary binding with some rubbing and light bumping to extremities. Covers with some light stains, smudges and scratches. Library stickers, ink stamps and library pocket on the interior front cover and front free endpaper. Initial text pages loose but present, and trimmed at the top and bottom. Pages throughout age toned and brittle, with some sporadic chipping to the edges of plates and some tears along the edges. No loss of images. Some loosening and tearing of some plates along the gutter. Binding in good, interior in good- condition overall. g- to g. Item #48372
