Catalogue Raisonné of one of the most significant American artists of the twentieth century providing a "clear-eyed-view" of her remarkable career. The catalog reproduces and describes 2,045 objects, made by O'Keeffe between 1901 and 1984. Of these, 2029 were located and examined between June 1992 and December 1998: 821 on canvas or board; 1,137 on paper; 44 casts of three original sculptures, and 27 clay pots. Sixteen works included in the above total of 2,045 could not be examined and are known only through published sources.
A beautiful production with extraordinary reproductions of O'Keeffe's work with appendices of O'Keeffe's statements, additional works, exhibitions sponsored by Alfred Stieglitz, and inscriptions; a chronology, works in public collections, selected exhibitions, selected bibliography and index at rear of volume two. Laid in (page 109) a color copy of an O'Keeffe watercolor, with inscription, of a nude motif not represented in the catalogue.
