Tokyo: 新建築社 (Shin Kenchikusha), 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Large quarto. 253pp. Grey cloth boards, with silver lettering on the front cover and spine. Glossy pages. Inscribed in English and signed in Japanese by Kurokawa on the front free endpaper. The work is a finely produced monograph on the acclaimed Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa (1934-2007). He is known as one of the pioneers and leading figures in the Metabolist Movement of architecture, and has designed countless structures of various kinds in Japan and internationally. The initial pages contain introductory text, followed by a lengthy section of countless color and b/w photographic reproductions, including images of interiors and exteriors of the architect's work, measured drawings, floorplans and design schematics. The final text sections include biographical information, interviews, architectural theory and essays by Kurokawa, a comprehensive career timeline, and finally publisher's advertisements.

Laid in at the front of the book are two inserts. The first is a typed and signed letter from Kurokawa to geographer and professor Norman Thrower (1919-2020) and his wife, printed on the architect's personal stationary. The second is a folded glossy poster printed in black and silver, for a lecture and exhibition by Kurokawa, held February 26th 1987, at UCLA's Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
