Maps included range from the first printed map in the 1475 edition of the Rudimentum Novitiorum via Ptolemaeic and maps produced in Europe in the seventeenth and eighteenth to the surveys of the nineteenth century. Illustrated with color and b/w reproductions of maps throughout, many of them full page. Bibliography, index of personal names and a chronological index at rear.
