The Amalgamated Press was a British newspaper and magazine, considered to be the British counterpart of the French newspaper "L'Illustration," the first French newspaper to publish a photograph in 1891. It was founded by the journalist Alfred Harmsworth in 1901 and expanded rapidly to combine as many publishing ventures under one banner. It was sold to the Mirror Group in 1959 and renamed Fleetway Publications undergoing various changes until it was reorganized under the name IPC Magazines. Some light wear along edges and joints of binding, light water spotting on few bindings. Volume one starting at inside covers. G to very good condition. Item #47766
