Jimmy Dean (A Fan's Personal James Dean Scrapbook) [UNIQUE]

ca. mid 1950s. Ring_bound. 11.5x10.5" blue three ring binder, housing 3-hole-punched scrapbook leaves of black paper protected with mylar. A lovingly created fan-made scrapbook of magazine and newspaper clippings, visually tracking the life and career of pioneering actor and American cultural icon James Dean. The first leaf (or title leaf) contains a centrally placed clipping of the words "Jimmy Dean", surrounded at the top and bottom by images of Dean as a baby.

The content includes a total of 94 individual clippings (some double-sided), many of which are full page, containing a total of 163 individual images of James Dean or related subjects. Many iconic photographs of the film star, as well as lesser known images are present, showing glimpses of his early life and parents, career, acting studies, photo-portraits, glamour shots, production stills, behind the scenes shots and also some more candid and personal images. Many images are printed in gravure in b/w, with a few in color. Some clippings contain text regarding the actors life as a young child, upbringing, and career. The final section of the binder pays memorial tribute to the actor's death, containing images of the newspaper headlines, the gravestite, and a double-page spread showing an image of crushed remnants of Dean's car post-accident.

Some of the clippings are lightly age toned along the edges. All leaves (as well as images) in the binder are rippled to one degree or another. A few of the larger images have three-hole-punches through the side margins. However most images are still unaffected, clean and vibrant. Binding and contents in overall very good- to very good condition. vg- to vg. Item #47635
