Remarkable work by the Danish Lutheran theologian Johannes Lund (1638-1686) and a exhaustive description of ancient and contemporary Jewish practice with special emphasis on the Temple worship, including the construction of the Tabernacle, the holy vessels and sacerdotal vestments. This treatise is illustrated with 30 remarkable engravings (including 4 folding and the frontispiece), and four in-text engravings, depicting priestly garments, the altar, the tent of meeting, the encampment of the twelve tribes, the table of the Showbread, the seven-branch candelabra, a conceptualization of the interior tabernacle in two different full-page version facing each other.
Text in German, Gothic script. Binding with light wear along edges, three inch horizontal closed tear at top edge of back cover, rubbed with some light staining. Handwritten name on front cover (Schenck), Red edges lightly faded. Name of previous owner inked to inside front cover, red paper remnants probably from removal of glued paper. Some damage to front free endpaper, chips, a closed tear at foredge, and light creasing. Starting at frontispiece. This with some chipping at corners, light creasing. Half-title and title page with some chipping along edges. Page 119 with one inch tear in lower half of page, no loss of text. Block at some stretches with heavily browned with text easily legible. Some creasing along edges of last few pages, endpaper chips, one of them with horizontal tear through whole page, some water-staining and creasing. Starting at back endpaper.
