Berlin: Zeughaus, 1946. First edition. Softcover. Octavo. 63 (1)pp. Original illustrated tan wraps with red lettering on cover. With an introduction by Erich Weinert, a Communist writer and member of the Communist Party. With the assumption of power by the Nazis Weinert fled to Switzerland and later to Paris where he was active with anti-Nazi publications and propaganda. After his return to Germany he became the president of the Central Administration for National Education. In recognition of his work he was awarded the National Prize in 1949 and 1952.

The catalog is illustrated with thirty-two full page b/w offset reproductions of paintings and sculptures, including works by Käthe Kollwitz and Max Pechstein. Some six hundred works were exhibited, all of them listed in the catalog with brief captions. At rear one page with aphorisms by Christian Morgenstern and ten pages with advertisements. Text in German. Light age-toning along spine with very light wear along edges. Text pages age-toned. Some pencil markings, list of numbers, not completely erased on back cover. Very good condition.
