The Medical and Surgical Uses of Electricity

New York: William Wood and Company, 1896. New edition. Hardcover. Quarto. xvi, 612pp. Original green cloth with blind-stamped ruling on covers, gilt lettering on spine. Light yellow endpapers. Illustrated with two hundred engravings. Practically the ninth edition of Beard and Rockwell's "Treatise on the Medical and Surgical Uses of Electricity," now thoroughly revised by A. D. Rockwell and much of it rewritten. The illustrations have been newly drawn and many new ones added. The book offers a detailed account of Electro-Physics, Electro-Physiology, Electro-Therapeutics, and Electro-Surgery. It is illustrated with two hundred engraved in-text illustrations and elaborates on the idea that electrization, besides being merely a local stimulant, exercises an influence over general and local nutrition, together with descriptions of the methods by which these nutritional effects are obtained. One of the new chapters is one devoted to the Röntgen or X rays while the interesting subject of static electricity has been entirely rewritten and greatly enlarged. Binding with light wear along edges, small chips and minor tears, and lightly rubbed. Starting lightly at inside front cover and page 401, with red stamp "Emergency Hospital Assn." on front free endpaper. Very good condition. Item #47103
