Considering the development of the Colony of New South Wales during the fifteen years since the second edition in 1837, only a small portion of the original work, mainly the earlier history of the colony, has been included in this edition, compare to the first and second edition. The major part of this edition on the colony in South Eastern Australia has been written at sea, during the author's last voyage from Sidney to London. Contains large folding map of the colony in volume one. Lang was a Scottish born Australian Presbyterian minister, writer, historian, politician and first advocate of Australian independence. Binding with wear along edges, small chips and light fraying, sunned along edges, and reinforced spine with brown library tape. Usual library markings, barcode, sticker, library bookplates, index card and pocket, and library stamps. Previous owner's name penciled to front free endpapers.
