The publication is an issue of the of the promotional supplement to the German weekly, Illustrierter Film-Kurier, promoting the German release of the 1927 silent American gangster film, "Underworld", directed by Josef von Sternberg. The film, produced by Paramount Pictures, was an early success for the director, and is seen as one of the greatest gangster films of the silent era. It is seen as an important early film in the gangster genre, and a big influence on the wave of original early sound films that would be released in the early 1930s, including the likes of Little Caesar, Scarface and Public Enemy.

The booklet is profusely illustrated throughout with b/w photogravure images, and photomontage, depicting scenes and characters from the film. Text throughout, including cast and crew credits, and gives plot details.
