James de Rothschild's humorous response to an anti-semitic pamphlet by Mathieu Dairnvaell who accused him of being responsible for the fatal railway accident which occured in July 1846 on the Chemin de Fer du Nord, James de Rothschild’s newly opened railway line. The event provided a focus for anti-semitism in France at the time.

This work is illustrated with five in-text woodcuts.
