"The engravings included in the album are presented in accordance with the time of their publication, regardless of the cartographic school to which they belong. We preferred, instead of the mere presentation of images, these to be accompanied by the descriptive texts - whenever such texts exist - written by the cartographers or the travellers themselves..." (Author) The book is illustrated exuberantly with full page maps and reproductions of title pages of published books, including images presented in margins of first fifty pages.
