Spine repaired with black tape, and a label with gold lettering. 50 pages of text followed by 36 full-page b/w photogravures showing the great Palucca in various dance postures. Gret Palucca (1902-1993) was a German dancer and teacher. From 1914-1916 she took ballet lessons with the great Heinrich Käller and later became a pupil of the famous Mary Wigman. In 1925 she founded "Die Palucca Schule" in Dresden. In 1926 Wassily Kandinsky wrote two noted essays on Palucca which put her on the map internationally. In 1939 she supposedly was no longer allowed to perform under the Nazi regime. Once "Ausdruckstanz" was out of style, Palucca helped create the "Neuer Künslerischer Tanz." Photographs by S. Enkelmann, H. Erfurth, G. Jonas, Ch. Rudolph and H. Schlitter. Captivating work by Olaf Rydberg telling the story of his encounter, and eventually close friendship with the dancer. Text in German. Binding with with some rubbing to extremities. Spine repaired with black tape. Interior with some small stains to the front free endpapers.
