This first part of Flinders Petrie's "Beth-Pelet" documents the archaeological excavations undertaken in 1929 in Tell Fara, Palestine (18 miles south of Gaza), especially all the results from the cemeteries, and from such part of the town as has been cleared to the bottom. Other parts not yet completely excavated are left for future publication (From the Introduction).

This volume is lavishly illustrated at rear with 71 leaves of plates (b/w photographic reproductions, folded plans, autograph texts, etc..

Binding age-toned along edges. Ex-library bookplate on inside of front cover, and pocket on inside of back cover. Ex-library stamp to top and bottom edges. Clear water-staining at upper corner of pages throughout (not affecting lettering nor plates). Binding and interior in overall good to good+ condition. g to g+. Item #45865
